Welcome to the Town of Falher

Known as the “Honey Capital of Canada”, Falher is a buzzing community located in the Smoky River Region of Alberta’s Peace River Region. Falher was named after a French Missionary, Father Constant Falher, O.M.I. The Colony of Saint Jean Baptiste Falher was established in 1912. After many new settlers arrived in the following years, the colony divided into what is now known as the Village of Donnelly and the Town of Falher. In 1919 (hence the 100th anniversary celebration), Mr. Joseph Lemire and his family bought four acres from Mr. Lamontagne to build their house and sawmill. That same year Falher became a hamlet, received village status in 1929 and was incorporated as a Town in 1955.

The first Falher Church at the St. Jean-Baptiste Mission is now a Registered Historical Site. It is presently being restored to its original appearance and is open for public viewing.
