Municipal Elections


UPDATED April 3, 2023 – 4:26 PM

At the close of nominations, 12 noon, today, April 3rd, 2023, the Town of Falher has received one (1) set of nomination papers for one (1) councillor vacancy. As such, the Town of Falher has acclaimed Roger Remillard to the position of councillor.

At this time Administration is making arrangements for an oath of office and new councillor training.

UPDATED January 23, 2023

Recently, the Town of Falher received a councillor resignation. The resignation was made effective on the date it was received by the chief administrative officer (January 4, 2023) and the Chief Administrative Officer reported the resignation at the first council meeting after receiving the resignation (January 18, 2023). As such, the Town of Falher is moving towards a municipal by-election.
(Municipal Government Act; Section 161(3) & (4); Section 165)

With Resolution 23-33 the Council of the Town of Falher will proceed with a Municipal By-Election and has selected Monday May 1st, 2023 as Election Day with Nomination Day being Monday April 3rd, 2023. (Municipal Government Act; Section 165 ; Local Authorities Election Act; Section 25)

For a by-election, within the period beginning on the day after the resolution or bylaw is passed to set election day for the by-election and ending at 12 noon on nomination day. (Local Authorities Election Act; Section 25 (2)(b) )

Nomination day is 4 weeks before election day. (Local Authorities Election Act; Section 25 (1) )

Nominations are NOW OPEN and close at noon (12pm) on Monday April 3rd, 2023
