Recently, the Town of Falher received a councillor resignation. The resignation was made effective on the date it was received by the chief administrative officer (June 2, 2022) and the chief administrative officer reported the resignation at the first council meeting after receiving the resignation (June 8, 2022). As such, the Town of Falher is moving towards a municipal by-election.

With Resolution 22-196 the Council of the Town of Falher has designated Wednesday, September 28, 2022 as the election day for the municipal by-election.

For a by-election, within the period beginning on the day after the resolution or bylaw is passed to set election day for the by-election and ending at 12 noon on nomination day. (Local Authorities Election Act; Section 25 (2)(b) )
Nomination day is 4 weeks before election day. (Local Authorities Election Act; Section 25 (1) )
Nominations are NOW OPEN and close at noon (12pm) on Wednesday August 31, 2022.
