ATTN: FIRE RESTRICTION (UPDATED June 10th, 2019)

FIRE RESTRICTION (UPDATED June 10th, 2019)
With some precipitation, exposed grasses still remain dry in the MD and pose a significant wildfire risk. As a result, a Fire Restriction is now in effect for the MD of Smoky River AND the Town of Falher.
No fire permits will be issued until more precipitation occurs. Please continue to monitor this site and or Facebook page for updates.
What is allowed:
Safe wood campfires in campgrounds (within fire pits), backyard or random camping areas.* Pit refers to an encased structure i.e. steel ring with wire mesh on top.
Off-Highway Vehicles can start wildfires-check frequently to ensure hotspots are free of debris, and make sure mufflers and spark arrestors are working properly.

This Restriction will remain in effect until conditions improve.

ATTN: Water Notice

WATER NOTICE

Water Plant Aesthetic Issue – No Risk

The Smoky River Water Commission is experiencing a manganese issue at the water plant. The chlorine is reacting with the manganese and creating a colour in the water. Rest assured, this is simply an issue of aesthetics and there is no risk. Steps have been taken to attempt to have the reaction take place earlier in the treatment process and hopefully the filters will remove the colour.
Thanks for your patience.
