Town of Falher Boosts Sustainable Tourism with New Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Town of Falher, March 25, 2024 – In a groundbreaking move towards sustainable tourism, the Town of Falher is set to welcome electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts with the installation of new charging stations. The project, generously funded by the SouthGrow Regional Initiative (SGRI) in collaboration with the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC), and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) through the Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP), aims to enhance the town’s appeal for environmentally conscious travelers.

The SouthGrow Electric Vehicle Charging Program (EVCP), a joint effort by SGRI and MCCAC, is providing vital support for Town of Falher’s EV infrastructure project. This initiative aligns seamlessly with the town’s commitment to sustainability, offering a green alternative for both residents and tourists exploring the region.

Project Highlights:
The initiative involves a dual port electric vehicle charging station at the Town of Falher’s Municipal Office, across the street from the Falher Regional Recreation Complex, the Honey Capital Park & the Richardson Spray Park. These stations will cater to both public and private EV users, contributing to a more sustainable and eco-friendly tourism experience.

Other Information:
The charging station is a Level 2, dual port station. Level 2 chargers can typically charge a EV to 80 percent from empty in 4-10 hours. Results vary.

Pricing for charging is $2.50/hour < 4 hours; $25/day > 4 hours.
