NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN.

Recently, the Town of Falher received 2 councillor resignations. The resignations was made effective on the date it was received by the chief administrative officer (June 2, 2022 & June 14, 2022 ) and the chief administrative officer reported the resignation at the first council meeting after receiving the resignation (June 8, 2022 & July 13, 2022). As such, the Town of Falher is moving towards a municipal by-election.

On June 8, 2022, Council passed Resolution 22-196 to hold a municipal by-election on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. (Municipal Government Act; Section 165)

Nominations are NOW OPEN and close at noon (12pm) on Wednesday August 31, 2022.

Updated Local Authorities Election Act

The Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA) governs municipal and school division elections in Alberta. It sets out rules and regulations for candidates, donors, electors, and election administrators that must be followed before, during and after an election.
